Frequently Addressed Clinical Issues

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, numb, depressed, anxious, lonely or frustrated with your current circumstance?  Individual therapy can help you increase self-esteem, inspire change, overcome obstacles and carve out a new path towards a more fulfilling life.

Communication, emotional disconnection, complex family dynamics and parenting concerns are some, but not all, of the factors that place stress on long-term partnerships. While I currently do not see couples together, I enjoy working with individuals on their primary relationships. Healthy relationships take work and learning new ways of communicating can repair and revitalize your connection with others in and outside your family.

I have extensive experience with a wide array of clinical concerns including, but not limited to;

Length of Treatment – Short or Long-Term?

Length of treatment is something we will discuss depending on your needs. I provide short-term solution focused therapy to problem solve, provide helpful feedback, offer strategies and insight. This approach is often appropriate for addressing crisis situations, situational anxiety and/or depression, conflict and other unexpected and immediately distressing issues.

I also offer longer-term psychoanalysis, a modality of therapy that investigates underlying core issues that drive our emotional states, our identity, self-esteem, patterns of behavior and our perspective.  This approach relies heavily on our therapeutic alliance, is married with skills-building as needed and is eclectic in nature drawing on an array of clinical modalities.  This often includes a deeper look at how we create meaning in our lives including our belief system and spirituality. This is a rich, complex and rewarding process that can facilitate powerful change in our internal experience and within our relationships.

What is EMDR Therapy?

InnerWell Psychotherapy Services for Trauma Counseling Park City

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is an evidence-based treatment that is designed to alleviate distress related to traumatic memories and reduce the intensity and frequency of symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.  The reprocessing stage of EMDR utilizes bi-lateral stimulation, typically eye movements, to reprocess emotionally distressing memories.  Length of treatment varies by individual, trauma history and symptomology.  Symptoms include (but are not limited to) high levels of anxiety, panic attacks, nightmares and re-experiencing past events and can present unexpectedly or be linked to specific triggers.

EMDR therapy can also provide powerful insight into key life events that have shaped core values that no longer serve you.  Clients often experience significant shifts in perspective that release them from negative self-beliefs and/or fears that disrupt personal growth and positive experience.  I use this modality in both short-term therapy to alleviate symptoms, in longer-term psychoanalysis as well as the treatment of complex trauma.

I am a Certified EMDR therapist.
